Last Thursday night I went to see Luisa Omielan at the Edinburgh Fringe. I've see here previous two shows What Would Beyonce Do? & Am I Right Ladies? on the telly, but this was my first time seeing her live.
"Luisa Omielan is back with her highly anticipated third stand-up instalment. In her own words, 'I believe it is my right to have an opinion on something I know absolutely nothing about!' Welcome to Politics for Bitches!"
"Fresh from filming her BBC Three series of the same name, comedy phenomenon Luisa Omielan (What Would Beyonce Do?! and Am I Right Ladies?!) is back with her third stand-up instalment. In her own words, 'I believe it is my right to have an opinion on something I know absolutely nothing about!' Welcome to Politics for Bitches. As seen on BBC One, Live at the Apollo, Thigh Gap joke (45 million views) and host of Comic Relief. ***** (Chortle.co.uk, Metro, Skinny, Guardian, ScotsGay). 'The comedian British women have been waiting for' (HuffingtonPost.co.uk)."
When we walked in, Luisa was already on stage dancing away to some classic tunes. So I was smiling away and then Bernie, her gorgeous pup came out. It was pure joy! And the show hadn't even started.
Luisa took us through her show with her talent for making the audience raucously laugh and celebrate like we're at a party, and then the next minute she hits us hard with some truths or beautifully poignant moments. I was so excited for the evening and I wasn't disappointed! I don't want to spoil any of the show, I highly recommend you go see her if you can, the roller coaster of emotions delivered and some comedy interactions from Bernie made for a brilliant show.
I love Luisa and the way she just tells her truth and lays it out there. I particularly resonate with her sections on depression and body positivity, she clicks with what I'm going through.
I was fortunate to briefly meet Luisa afterwards, she's so lovely and typical me - I cried - what a doughnut?! Hubby wasn't surprised.
Please go see Luisa if you get a chance and watch her previous shows on her YouTube channel.
