My whole life I have been a cat lover and have always had cats in the family. I love meeting new cats, and Cat is even part of my name. I love the sound of a purring cat, it's so calming and therapeutic. One good thing about taking time for myself to recover at the moment is the amount of time I get to spend with my cats! (If you're not a cat lover, turn back now).
We're fortunate enough to have three :-D and they're from the same litter. They are 4 and a bit years old, all tabby with similar markings. We don't have or want children, so we're pretty content with our fur-babies. It's a cosy little family. Each cat has it's own personality and uniqueness, it can be very entertaining. Here's a little summary of each:
Benedict is a definite lover not a hater. I call him my little gentleman. He's a real purr machine and loves to have cuddles. He seems to forget that he's a cat and will want to make friends with dogs and stranger cats. Our neighbour used to have a cat who was his buddy and they would lie in the garden in content companionship. Unfortunately that cat passed away, so he's yet to choose a new BFF. Each time Bene comes in he announces his presence with his high-pitched meows. If we're in bed upstairs he'll shout to us until we answer or he makes his way to us.
Kiki is our little girl, she's really tiny! She looks so pretty with her white socks and puft on her chest, a real cutey pie. But don't be fooled she's usually the ring leader in any nonsense, likes to bop her brothers for no reason, demands treats especially when she hears the fridge door open and generally has us all wrapped around her little finger! Each evening about 9:30 Kiki appears looking for some milk, if you say the word "milk" she will meow back at you. Totes adorbs! She is good at snuggling in and having a nap, but for something so small it's amazing how quickly she gets heavy.
Panthro is a different beast, very much a lone wolf. In the winter months he's around lots, sleeping and occasionally settling in for a snooze on our laps. During the better weather, he's out ALL-THE-TIME, he appears for meals and treats the house like a hotel! We think he maybe visits other people, but it's hard to be sure. Panthro is also the biggest of the three at 6+ kgs, but he's lean. When we first brought him home he had massive paws, which he has grown into, but we're pretty sure he still thinks he's a wee kitten. He's a big fraidy cat and jumps at his own shadow! He'll let Kiki be the brave one and let her do any scoping required.
We originally were going to get two, but we were won over and took three. We wouldn't be without any of them, although the patience wears thin at 4am when they occasionally have noisy zoomies - lol!
